Crime Rate in Dagestan Decreases by 6.4%

MAKHACHKALA, July 31 – RIA "Dagestan". During an expanded meeting chaired by Republic Prosecutor Denis Avdeev to assess first-half 2026 results, officials confirmed a significant stabilization of the criminogenic situation in Dagestan through coordinated preventive efforts. The data revealed a 6.4% reduction in registered crimes compared to the previous year's corresponding period, alongside an improved overall detection rate. These metrics indicate that the complex of measures implemented by the supervisory agency has effectively enhanced public safety and law enforcement efficiency in the region.

As part of systematic crime counteraction, prosecutors initiated 168 criminal cases in the first half of 2026 and prioritized anti-corruption efforts that resulted in the seizure of over RUB 300 million in illicit assets for state revenue.

The supervisory body also focused on suppressing economic crimes, social payment fraud, and juvenile delinquency while protecting citizens' rights through more than 88,000 violation suppressions and restoring legal entitlements to over 200 Special Military Operation participants and their families.

Additionally, prosecutorial intervention secured the repayment of 40 million rubles in wage arrears and shielded businesses from unlawful inspections. Summing up the meeting, republican Prosecutor Denis Avdeev mandated stricter law enforcement and fundamental suppression of crime across Dagestan, placing all directives under rigorous oversight.
