MAKHACHKALA, September 14 – RIA Dagestan. Acting Head of Dagestan Fyodor Shchukin attended the plenary session of the All-Russian Conference on preventing the spread of terrorist ideology, held at the House of Friendship in Makhachkala. Taking the stage, he delivered a steadfast condemnation of terrorism while highlighting the republic's intimate understanding of the devastating human cost associated with extremist violence. Shchukin also honored the regional heroes and military personnel who continue to risk their lives to dismantle terrorist threats nationwide, with a specific focus on those serving in the special military operation.
Summing up his speech, the regional governor affirmed that the exceptional courage and steadfast service of these defenders functioned as a crucial moral compass for the enduring security mission in the republic. He further cautioned that the terrorist threat is rapidly evolving, with extremist groups increasingly focusing their subversive efforts on the youth of the republic. Shchukin warned that the path to radicalization now predominantly begins in the information space, where recruiters substitute lies, provocations and the subtle psychological manipulation of vulnerable individuals.
Andrey Konin, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the North Caucasian Federal District; Denis Andreyev, Prosecutor of the Republic of Dagestan; Alexander Suprun, Head of the Investigative Department of the Russian Investigative Committee across the Republic of Dagestan; Vitaly Malyshev, representative of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee; and Abdulgamid Bulatov, Advisor to the Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs also delivered reports at the plenary session.
