Seedlings from Dagestan Planted in Sevastopol Vineyards

SIMFEROPOL, May 5 – RIA "Dagestan." Preparatory work to establish a 25-hectare young vineyard has been completed in Sevastopol by Château Duvankoy, with 100,000 seedlings of five Russian grape varieties planted in the first stage. The planting structure is designed to enable production of both white and red wines: 15 hectares (60,000 seedlings) are allocated to white varieties—10 hectares of Riesling and 5 hectares of Chardonnay—while red varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, each occupy 5 hectares (40,000 plants total).

All seedlings are of Russian origin, reflecting the farm's commitment to supporting domestic nursery cultivation: red varieties were sourced from nurseries in Kabardino-Balkaria, while white varieties (Riesling and Chardonnay) were delivered from Dagestan. This initiative underscores the growing integration of Russian wine-growing regions and the development of import-substitution strategies in the domestic wine industry.
