DERBENT DISTRICT, June 11 – RIA Dagestan. The "Zodiac" solar power plant, with a capacity of 102.3 MW, has been officially opened in Avadan, Derbent district. The opening ceremony attended by Acting Head of the Republic of Dagestan Fedor Shchukin, Prime Minister Magomed Ramazanov, Nova Energy Management Company CEO Ivan Shchetinkin, Renewable Energy Development Association Director Alexey Zhikharev, and the Head of Dokuzparinsky District, Magomed Shamilov.
"Zodiac" is the largest power plant not only in Dagestan but also in Southern Russia. Nova Energy LLC implemented the project through the DPM RE 2.0 industry support scheme for green energy.
The project has a significant environmental benefit: the solar plant has greatly increased the share of green energy in the republic's power supply system, reduced the use of hydrocarbon-fueled electricity and contributed to improving the local environment.
