MAKHACHKALA, February 12 – RIA “Dagestan”. A delegation of four Dagestani food producers visited Afghanistan as part of a business mission organized by the Export Support Center. The meetings were held at Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, where Dagestani representatives—specializing in sunflower oil, rice, legumes (including chickpeas and lentils) and confectionery—met with approximately 20 Afghan food importers.
During a roundtable discussion followed by B2B matchmaking sessions, three Dagestani companies signed cooperation agreements. One agreement included a contract for the supply of sunflower oil valued at USD 1 million.
According to Arsen Medzhidov, Deputy Head of the Export Support Center, demand for Russian sunflower oil in Afghanistan is currently substantial. One local enterprise has already indicated its readiness to purchase up to 1,000 tons of oil per month.
"The product has a long shelf life, withstands transportation without spoilage and remains economically viable despite the logistical distance" Medzhidov says.
