MAKHACHKALA, February 13 – RIA “Dagestan”. Makhachkala Airport assesses options to establish direct air connection with cities in China and Georgia (Guangzhou and Tbilisi). The feasibility of these routes depends on the completion of a new runway, which is currently under construction as part of the airport's second-stage reconstruction within the federal "Efficient Transport System" initiative. The project is overseen by the Federal Treasury Institution "Directorate of the State Customer for the Implementation of Comprehensive Projects for the Development of Transport Infrastructure".
This federal institution, commonly abbreviated as Rostransmodernizatsiya, operates as the state customer for major transport infrastructure projects in Russia, including airport reconstruction, road development and other initiatives under federal programs such as the "Efficient Transport System" national project.
