MAKHACHKALA, April 28 – RIA "Dagestan." Despite prolonged spring rains that delayed fieldwork, Dagestan's agricultural producers have actively engaged in spring planting operations. According to the republican Ministry of Agriculture and Food, several municipalities have adjusted their plans to favor later-maturing crops, but the overall pace of sowing remains high.
This year, spring sowing is planned across 225,000 hectares. Of this total: 92,000 hectares are allocated to forage crops, 57,300 hectares to grain and legume crops, 40,100 hectares to vegetables, 18,300 hectares to potatoes, 7,800 hectares to melons and gourds, 4,500 hectares to industrial crops.
The work requires 68,000 tons of seeds and planting material, including 55,000 tons of seed potatoes. Seed availability has reached 92%, and procurement efforts are ongoing. To date, farmers have plowed 142,200 hectares and planted 60,400 hectares with spring crops.
