Tagir Khaibulaev gains bronze medal at Judo Grand Prix

Makhachkala, December 3, 2015. The Olympic champion Tagir Khaibulaev became a bronze medalist at the Judo Grand Prix, held November 29-30 in Jeju, South Korea.

The last in this year's tournament Grand Prix brought together more than 400 wrestlers from 70 countries, Tagir Khaibulaev, the athlete from Kizilyurt (up to 100 kg) was included into the Russian team to participate in this competition.

On the tatami "Gymnasium Hall", Dagestan judoka got in the final day of the tournament and obtained the bronze medal. In the first round of competition, ahead of time knocked out the Korean sportsman Won, then - Anis Ben Khaled from Tunisia, and in the quarterfinal, Khaibulaev defeated the Japanese Sakamoto ahead of time.

In the semifinals, Khaibulaev lost to Guhamu Cho, who took the highest step of the podium in the weight category up to 100 kg. In a duel for the third place, the Russian athlete knocked out Luciano Corr, the 2007 world judo champion.

By results of the competitions, the Russian team took the fourth place in the unofficial team standings, losing to the teams from Korea, France and Japan.
