Makhachkala, December 16, 2016. About 300 freestyle wrestlers from the Russian regions and CIS countries will participate in the international tournament for the prizes of the world champion, five-time European champion, Honored Master of Sports of Russia Kuramagomed Kuramagomedov.

The sport event will take place in the sports complex in Kaspiysk on December 16-17. All the winners in 11 weight categories will receive monetary prizes. Besides, there have been established special prizes for the best fighters in the several categories.

The history of the tournament dates back to 1997, when Kuramagomedov obtained the gold medal at the World Championship. Dagestanis, inspired by their compatriot’s victory, decided to hold such tournament. At first, the local sportsmen attended the sport event and some time later the competition began to gather young fighters from other cities and districts.

Since 2010, the tournament has the international status.Over the years, the competition brings together fighters from many regions of Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Belarus, Germany and Abkhazia.

For many sportsmen the tournament became a launching pad towards greater achievements. Such famous wrestlers as the Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulayev, European champions Shamil Kudiyamagomedov and Gadzhimurad Rashidov, Hasanhuseyn Badrudinov and Arsenali Musalaliev, a winner of the gold medal at the Junior Olympics Ismail Gadzhiyev, the winner of the European championship Abasgadzhi Magomedov and others participated also in this spot event.
