Magomed Abdusalamov’s wife intends to write book and make film about her husband

Makhachkala, January 14, 2016. The Russian boxer Magomed Abdusalamov is still in the difficult situation, after the ill-fated fight three years ago. His wife, Bakanay, made a decision to write a book and shoot a film about her husband.

"All what we've gone through together, only God and the closest friends know. It was very difficult. The doctors who hastened to declare him “not live” now cannot explain how he managed to not only survive, but to make sure steps on the path to the normal life. I will write a book and make a film about it, where the truth of our lives will be reflected, "- Bakanay Abdusalamova said in an interview with RIA Dagestan.

On November 2, 2013, Magomed Abdusalamov defended a title of the WBC heavyweight champion. The fight took place in the famous complex "Madison Square Garden" in New York. The Russian athlete’s rival was the Cuban boxer Mike Perez.

For Abdusalamov this fight was the 19th of his career and all his previous bouts, he had won by knockouts early. Dragged to another victory, Magomed Abdusalamov turned out in the hospital, where a boxer was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury, involved a cerebral edema, then a surgery and the introduction of a state medical coma. Despite the unfavourable diagnosis, Abdusalamov survived and is now undergoing rehabilitative treatments.


According to Bakanay, Magomed Abdusalamov cannot return to Russia.

"No, I do not want to risk, although many friends advised us. Magomed could be bad on the plane. We need to continue treatment here. I want Magomed to be treated in the best centers, as they are in the USA, "- Bakanay Abdusalamov concluded.
