Four Dagestanis win Thai boxing Russian championships

Sevastopol, September 1, 2014. Four Daghestani Thai boxers won gold medals of the Russian championships taking place 24-30 August in Sevastopol, the Russian Thai Boxing Federation’s official website says.

The national championships brought together 150 athletes from 37 regions willing to qualify for the international competitions. Daghestani Kimran Nabati (60 kg), Hochbar Aigubov (63.5 kg), Magomed Zainukov (67 kg) and Magomed Amirhanov (71 kg) became champions here.

Interestingly, an international junior tournament "Friendship Cup" was part of the national championships. The cup attracted teams from Russia, Transnistria, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Latvia, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia. Here, gold medals were won by other 4 Dagestanis – Magomedkhan Zalimhanov (48 kg), Salimkhan Ibragimov (67 kg), Daud Daudov (81 kg) and Arslan Yaplyev (86 kg).
In both events, Daghestan was represented by 30 athletes.
