Djbar Askerov vs. Cedric Manhoef – highlight of GPRO 16 K-1 tournament in Moscow

Makhachkala, February 3, 2015. One of the top Russian K-1 fighters and Thai boxer Djabar Askerov will perform at the international GPRO 16 K-1 tournament in professional kickboxing, says the official site of the Russian Kickboxing Federation.

Organized by the Profsport promotion and the Rus Gym club, the show will be taking place in the Krylia Sovetov universal sports complex in Moscow. Here, Askerov will oppose reigning K-1 Supercombat world champion Cedric Manhoef – a cousin to the eminent K-1 fighter Melvin Manhoef – in the highlight of the evening.

The tournament will also feature 4 quarterfinals. In the first one, double professional world champion Alim "Professor" Nabiyev (Azerbaijan) will fight against titled Kyrgyzstani Kumar Zhaliyev. The second GPRO quarterfinal is also supposed to be hot: Muscovite Denis "Mouse" Denisenko vs. Timur Ailiarov (North Ossetia, Russia). In the next quarterfinal, Tural Bairamov (Azerbaijan) will oppose GPRO and IPCC vice-champion Artem "Spur" Pashporina from Nizhny Novgorod.
The winners of the GPRO quarterfinals will contest the top place in the rankings at the next tournament. The semifinal winners will be able to compete with reigning GPRO K-1 champion Dmitry "Black Jack" Valens for the championship in the 76.2 kg weight.

The other elimination bouts will show heavyweights - Thai boxing world champion Yaroslav Remyga (Ukraine) vs. Andrei "Hulk" Toft (Russia), and Immam Abdullayev (Moscow, Russia) vs. Timur Nadrov (Moscow, Russia).
