Daghestanis to hold a big professional martial arts tournament in Moscow

Makhachkala, September 3, 2014. On October 24, the "Dinamo" Krylatskoe Sports Palace in Moscow will host an international professional martial arts tournament, one of the organizers President of the Daghestan MMA Federation Abdulkarim Aigunov told RIA "Dagestan". The tournament is expected to feature 10 fights – 2 K-1 fights and 8 MMA fights. The tournament sponsor – the Daghestan public organization "Novy Potok" (new stream) – is awarding $2,000-10,000 to the participants.

Leading Russian fighters, mostly Daghestani MMA and K-1 athletes, are going to participate. They are: Murad Zainalabidov (61 kg, "Dagfighter" SC ), Oleg Borissov (66 kg, "Krepost" SC), Shamil Zavurov (77 kg, "Champion" SC), Muslimbek Muslimov (77 kg, Aygunov SC), Alibek Rassulov (77 kg, Kassumov SC), Suleiman Magomedov (85 kg, "Scorpion" SC), legend of the world’s Wushu Sanda Ramazan ‘Merciless’ Ramazanov (84 kg, Aygunov SC), Aygun ‘Achilles’ Akhmedov (84 kg, "DCC" SC), Vladimir Mineev (93 kg, "Fight Nights" SC), and Djamal Kassumov (open weight).
To date, 4 fights have been scheduled:

Shamil Zavurov vs. Tofiq Mussayev (Azerbaijan),
Ramazan Ramazanov vs. Phil Baroni (USA),
Aygun Akhmedov vs. Philip Haves (USA), and Djamal Kassumov vs. Semmy Schilt – the highlight of the evening, a K-1 fight of the kickboxing and Thai boxing Daghestani legend and the well-known Dutch fighter.
