Daghestan judokas gain nine gold medals at the European championship among veterans

Makhachkala, July 8, 2014. Daghestan judokas obtained nine gold medals from the individual and team of European championship among veterans, held in late June in the Czech Republic, one of the winners, the coach of Olympic champion Mansur Isaev - Khamzat Gadzhiyev told the RIA "Dagestan".

According to the spokesman, five Daghestan sportsmen acting for the Russian national team performed in the Czech capital.

"In their age and weight categories, Ruslan Gamzatov (up to 73 kg), Sultan Magomedov (up to 90 kg), Khamzat Hajiyev (up to 90 kg), Magomedali Magomedov (up to 100 kg), Magomedshapi Aliyev (up to 100 kg) brought gold medals. Apart from Aliyev who did not take part in the team competition, all of Daghestani judokas won the European Championship in personal and team standings"- Gadzhiyev pointed out.

For the most Daghestan wrestlers, as Gadzhiyev explained, it was not the first success in sports career at the European championships among veterans.
"Magomedali Magomedov has already become the eightfold European champion, Aliyev - seven gold medals holder, Ruslan Gamzatov became the fivefold winner of the competition and Sultan Aliyev gained a victory for the first time in his career. I am very pleased with my personal results and overall performance of our team, which has managed to take the first place in the competitions. In many ways, this result was achieved thanks to the support of people helped who sponsored us to be there"- Gadzhiyev concluded.

All the winners of competitions got an opportunity to participate in the World Championship in Spanish Malaga, in September, 2014.
