Dagestani weightlifters win medals at Russian championship

Makhachkala, December 4, 2015. Dagestani weightlifters obtained gold and silver medals at the Junior championship of Russia, which took place in Yekaterinburg on November 28 to December 2, the press service of Dagestan ministry of physical culture and sports reports.

More than 170 young people from 36 regions of Russia attended the competition. Dagestan team was represented by three athletes at the championship. Mizakhir Zagirov, acting in the weight category up to 56 kg, gained the award of the highest standard. Totally, Dagestani weightlifter showed the result of 199 kg (87 kg- in snatch, 112 kg – in the push –off).

Vadim Balayev with a total of 161 kg (71 kg – in the jerk, 90 kg - in the push –off) has become the second prizewinner in the weight category up to 50 kg. Another Dagestani athlete Ragimhan Samedov, acting in the weight category up to 69 kg, has become only the fifth. The athlete’s result is 258 kg (114 – in the snatch, 144 in the push off).

By results of the competition, the coaching staff of the Russian national team will form a team to participate in the international competitions.
