Dagestani Sahid Mallaev to perform at world street workout championships

Makhachkala, November 21, 2014. Dagestani Sahid Mallaev will take part in the world street workout championships scheduled to run December 1 in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana.

Street workout is a mass sports activity in the form of performing various exercises on the horizontal bar, parallel bars, wall bars, horizontal ladders and other implements on open-air sports grounds.

"The world street workout championships will attract to Astana participants from 75 countries, - Mallaev commented in an interview with RIA" Dagestan", - They are top professionals, including the recognized leaders Hannibal For King and Denis Minin. For me, participation in the championship is an invaluable experience, communication, and connections I’ll be able to apply to when organizing street workout competitions in Dagestan."

Mallaev said he fell for street workout a few years ago after watching videos about people who do it on the Internet. "Street workout is designed to allow common people to join a healthy lifestyle, find like-minded people, and have a good time. I started doing street workout about four years ago. I began with simple things – chin-ups and parallel bar dips. I was just trying to keep myself fit.

"I decided to go deep into street workout and develop this sport in Dagestan after I saw a group of Russian street workout followers in a social network. I found out that young people all over the country had been promoting the sport for a long time. I thought, why not develop it in our republic? Inspired by the idea, me and my friend set up a similar group in the social network as a platform for Dagestani followers to communicate, share experiences, arrange shared workouts on certain grounds, post photos and videos of the workout sessions".- Mallaev concluded.
