Makhachkala, November 2, 2016. Dagestani sportsman Ragim Aliev gained a victory at the European Championship, taken place in Maribor, Slovenia on October 23 to 31. The competition was held in three sections of kickboxing: low-kick, K-1, light contact.

The only representative of Dagestan (up to 100 kg), acting for the Russian team, obtained a gold medal in the low-kick version.

"Totally, 10 kickboxers competed for the gold. I had three fights within the tournament, beating one by one the sportsmen from Germany, Turkey and Serbia in the finals. By the way, I lost to a Serbian athlete in the final battle of the World Championship last year. I consider that the jury awarded victory to my rival because the championship was held in Serbia. This time it was honestly and I didn’t leave him a chance."- Ragim Aliev commented.

For the Dagestan kickboxer, this victory became the second in Slovenia. The first time in these prestigious competitions, Ragim Aliev celebrated his success in 2014.
