Dagestani judoka becomes best at All-Russian tournament in Krasnoyarsk

Makhachkala, June 14, 2017. Dagestani judoka Rustam Amirmetov has won gold at the All-Russian competitions in memory of Vladimir Gulidov, the press service of the Russian Judo Federation says.
The sport event was held on June 10-11 in the multifunctional sports complex Arena-Sever. The history of the judo tournament goes back to 1994. Then foreign athletes from Mongolia, China, Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as judokas representing Europe participated in the competitions entitled "Center of Asia".

After the tragic death of the president of Krasnoyarsk Judo Federation Vladimir Gulidov, it was decided to hold the next tournaments in Gulidov’s honor. In 2004, the competition received the status of the All-Russian sport event. The awards of the Gulidov tournament are the medals made of precious metals. Besides, the winners of the competitions receive the title of masters of sports of Russia and the opportunity to perform at the Russian Championship.

A native of Dagestan Rustam Amirmetov, representing the Tyumen region, gained victory in the weight category up to 90 kg. The graduate of Derbent sports school defeated all his rivals in four duels. The Russian judo championship is scheduled for September19 – 24 in Nalchik.
