Makhachkala, April 3, 2017. By results of 2016, Dagestani Jamal Azhiguerey has become the laureate of the national award of the Russian Union of Martial Arts "Golden Belt" in the nomination "The best sportsman of the year", the site superkarate.ru reports. The annual awarding ceremony of winners took place March 31 in the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow.

The Golden Belt Award has been established in 2005. This year, the martial arts athletes obtained prizes in nine nominations. In one of the most prestigious among them, Jamal Azhiguerey and Yulia Berezikova were recognized the best.

Jamal Azhiguerey is the master of sports of Russia of international class, the multiple champion of Europe and the two-time world champion in Wushu.
