Dagestani becomes bronze medalist at World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships

Makhachkala, September 9, 2015. Dagestani athlete Bilal Makhov won the bronze medal at the World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships, held in Las Vegas, USA on September 7 to 12.

In the finals, in the weight category up to 130 kg, Makhov defeated American Robert Smith with a score 10: 8. It should be noted that Dagestani athlete intends to perform in freestyle wrestling competions.

Having obtained the bronze medal the World Championship, Makhov got a ticket to the Olympic Games - 2016 in the heavyweight division in the Greco-Roman style. "We have a license for the Olympics in the weight category up to 130 kg. That was the main goal at the Greco-Roman wrestling tournament for Bilal Makhov and he performed well”- the first vice-president of the Russian Wrestling Federation George Brusov told.

Let us remind that in the first fight at the World Championship, Makhov had to compete against two-time Olympic champion Cuban Michal Lopez. The Russian lost to an opponent with a score 1: 2.
