Dagestani athletes win two medals at Judo Grand Prix in Turkey

Samsun, Turkey, April 1, 2015. Dagestani judokas Abdul Abdulzhalilov (66 kg) and Arsen Omarov (100 kg) won bronze medals of the international Grand Prix tournament which was taking place in Samsun, Turkey on March 27-29, judo.ru reports.

The medals turned out to be the only ones for the Russian team placing it on the 20th place in the total standings. In the contest for the best team among 67 national teams at the third season’s Grand Prix, the Dutch (2-1-2) proved to be the first leaving behind Azerbaijanis (2-1-0) and Uzbeks (2-0-1).

The Turkish tournament was the last one before the April’s continental championships. The next ranking event is scheduled to run early May in Zagreb, Croatia. The European championships will be held late June as part of the European Olympic Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
