Makhachkala, February 27, 2017. The head of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili announced today that Dagestan was one of the key contenders to host the European Championship, which could be held in Russia within the next three years.
According Mamiashvili, the Russian Sports Wrestling Federation is now preparing the relevant application to hold the continental championship in Dagestan. In March, the application will be considered by the executive committee of the Joint World Wrestling Federation.
The head of the Federation stressed that Dagestan has good wrestling traditions and great experience in organizing international tournaments. The Republican leadership grants all the necessary guarantees to hold the European Championship at the appropriate level, including in terms of ensuring the safety of participants.
It is expected that the Palace of Sports named after Ali Aliyev in Kaspiysk - the largest indoor sports palace in the Northern Caucasus may become the main arena of the tournament.
