Dagestan chess player gets his first ever win at European Championship

Tallinn, December 2, 2019. For the first time in the history of Dagestan the residents of Makhachkala Taimaz Temirbekov won gold medal at the official European championship in rapid chess, team tournament and blitz. The international competitions took place from November 30 to December 4 in Tallinn.

Temirbekov trained by his coach Maksutdin Dzhanbolatov has become a triumphant of the championship among boys in the age group up to 8 years. About 100 children from 14 states competed within the group. Taymaz, showing his character, scored 8 points out of 9 possible.

The other young Dagestanis achieved good results at the tournament: Adam Khiryaev gained 6.5 points and took the 8th place among boys under 8 years, Sultanat Dzhalalova with her 5 points took the 21st place out of 52 participants among girls under 10 years.

On December 3 - 4, the chess players will take part in a team tournament and a blitz game (blitz) within the framework of the European Championship. The President of the Chess Federation of the Republic of Dagestan, the international grandmaster Dzhakay Dzhakayev congratulated the young chess players, their coaches and parents on their successful performance in the European Championship in Rapid Chess and wished them a successful performance in the upcoming tournaments.
