Tashkent, September 13 /RIA "Dagestan"/ Russian heavyweight Bilal Makhov won a bronze medal at the world Greco-Roman wrestling championship taking place these days in Tashkent.
The 3-time world champion and bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympics in freestyle wrestling, Makhov is new to world Greco-Roman wrestling championships. Yet, in the 1/8 final of the 130 kg weight the Dagestani wrestler defeated Georgian Jacob Kadjaya 10:2, and in the next fight, he won Swedish Johan Eurén 2:1.
In the next round, double Olympic champion and 4-time world champion Cuban Meehan Lopez knocked Makhov out of the contest for the championship 0:1. To win the bronze medal, the Dagestani wrestler defeated German Edward Popp 9:0. Meehan Lopez finally placed first making his 5th world championship.
