Makhachkala, August 13, 2015. On August 11, Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts named after P.S. Gamzatova hosted an exhibition of painter, graphic artist and book decorator Yuri Nikolaev, the press service of the Ministry of Culture RD reports.

The organizers timed the event to the 75th anniversary of the Russian artist, whose formation and development began in the middle of the last century in Dagestan.

"It is quite remarkable works - touching, amazing, made with pencil, pen, fine, masterfully executed sketches of theatrical and artistic life of Dagestan. Each of the portraits represent a distinctive and expressive, recognizable, and good-naturedly ironic image. It should be noted that Yuri Filippovich was a recognized master a wonderful illustration of books of the Soviet epoch, which in contrast to the present day technology of illustration of art publications used by modern designers, presents his own style - a warm, sensitive, passionate image of Dagestan"- Dagestan art critic Zarema Dadaeva said at the opening ceremony.
