VI Festival of Culture of peoples of Caucasus takes place in Moscow

Makhachkala, November 17, 2014. The Festival of Culture of the Peoples of the Caucasus, organized by the Russian Congress of the Peoples of the Caucasus along with Moscow Government, the Government of Ingushetia, Foundation for Promotion of Karachay-Balkar youth "Elbrusoid" and the public organization "Officers of Russia" is being held for the fourth time in Moscow, the press –service of Russian Congress of Peoples of the Caucasus reports.

The major festival became the 100th anniversary the Caucasus cavalry division formed on August 23, 1914.
A 2-hour exhibition of portraits of Caucasian warriors, distinguished themselves in the Cavalry Division, as well as a large information stand, telling visitors about the First World War, opened before the concerts.

Georgians, Daghestanis, Ossetians, Azerbaijanis, Abkhazians and other nationalities presented books, antique and contemporary bladed weapons, costumes, and paraphernalia, household items and objects of art.

Daghestani exhibition was presented by Balkhar masters’ utensils. The head of Moscow Cultural Center "Daghestan" Patimat Gammadova told about pottery and knitted things made of camel’s hair.

The Head of the Republic of Ingushetia invited to the festival, did not pass over Daghestani exhibition. Yunus-Bek Yevkurov and the chairman of Presidium of the Russian Congress of Peoples of the Caucasus Alii Totorkulov talked to Daghestani youth.

Dance groups and artists from other republics of the North Caucasus, as well as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of South Ossetia and Abkhazia performed at the concert program of the festival. Among them there were Daghestani tightrope walker in the fifth generation Rasul Abakarov, Ossetian opera singer Amaga Gotti, State Folk Dance Ensemble "Ingushetia",  a participant of TV Show Voice Irakli Intskirveli, a singer Sabina Saidova, a virtuoso guitar player Murad Bulatov and many others.

The representatives of the Office of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the City of Moscow handed over a grateful letter to the chairman of the NGO "Youth Association of Daghestan" and to a student of Customs Academy Shamil Sadrudinov for their contribution to the harmonization of interethnic and interfaith relations in Moscow.
