Traditional culture and customs of economic development discussed at cultural and investment forum in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, April 24, 2014. A breakout session on "Traditional culture and customs of regional economic development" was held today in Makhachkala as part of the International Cultural and Investment Forum "Culture and Economy of Regional Policy in Modern Context".

The session brought together the chairman of Daghestan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RAS Corresponding Member Academician Khizri Amirkhanov, the head of the Social Philosophy Department at the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts Valeria Tikhonova, the head of the of Social Science and Humanities Department at the Moscow International Higher Business School Elena Mareeva, and other officials.

At the section, participants discussed the role and importance of traditional culture in providing national security in Russia and its regions in the area of culture and economy. Participants noted that a preserved tradition is a key component; without it and its further development, people and the society can not only lose their cultural identity, but also their cultural and ethnic self-identification.

The International Cultural and Investment Forum "Culture and Economy of Regional Policy in Modern Context" is part of the annual Moscow Forum of Culture "Culture as Strategic Resource of Russia in 21st Century", the annual international symposium "Colleges of Culture and Arts in World Educational Space", and the annual Daghestan economic forum.
