The acting head of the republic of Dagestan Sergey Melikov has chaired the regular sitting of the governmental headquarters for countering the spread of coronavirus infection on the territory of region. During the meeting, the head of the Rospotrebnadzor Department (Russia’s healthcare watchdog) Nikolai Pavlov reported that the number of Covid-19 cases increased by 88% compared to the last week. In turn, Sergei Melikov called the situation in Dagestan “threatening”. It was also noted that 1,833 bunk beds were deployed in the republic for patients with COVID. A week ago, there were 1200. The top official demanded to strengthen information work among the population.
