Rector of Dagestan State Technical University takes part in VI Rectors’ Forum of Russian and Japanese universities

Makhachkala, October 10, 2016. The rector of Dagestan State Technical University Tagir Ismailov participated in the VI Rectors’ Forum of Russian and Japanese universities, held in the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov on October 6-7.

More than 60 rectors representing Japanese universities and more than 40 rectors of the Russian universities have become the active participants of the Forum. Among them, there were the rectors of the Russian leading universities such as the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the National Research Nuclear University "MEPhI", the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" and others.

The Forum participants discussed topical issues related to the interaction between the Russian and Japanese universities during the round table ‘Universities and Society: Science and Education in the modern world". Japanese and Russian scientific and educational centers agreed to more closely cooperate with each other.

As parties noted, the development of scientific and educational partnership between Japan and Russia have had a strategic impact. Thus, the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also agreed that cooperation in the field of science would contribute to the innovative development of two countries and improve the competitiveness of their human capital within the last meeting.

The foreign activity of DSTU demonstrates the way how to develop partnership relations with Japanese colleagues. The representatives of the Japanese high-tech sector, including the delegation of Japan Low-Carbon Development LTD (Tokyo), represented by its president, Makoto Kasuya, director Masahide Miyata and the other company managers visited the University. According to the Forum organizers, the experience of cooperation of Russian universities with Japanese companies is important for the strategic development of Russian-Japanese cooperation.

As part of the Forum, the rector of DSTU Tagir Ismailov held negotiations with the President of SOKA University Ёshihisa Baba. The cooperation plans also emerged in the course of the meeting of the rector of Dagestan State Technical University with the deputy director of the company TOKYO BOEKI Kavabe Tsunetaka. The intentions for further cooperation has been planned to be developed and discussed during the next meetings.
