Railway history museum opens in Derbent

Derbent, July 31, 2017. The railway history museum has opened in Derbent railway station. About two hundred exhibits tell about the history of formation of the regional railways in the southern part of Russia.

The museum visitors can get familiarized with the history of the railways of the Northern Caucasus, starting from 1898 up to the present day. There are antique watches, photographs, telephone and cash registers. The is also an exposition about the work of the railway station administrator. A model of the first locomotive of the "L" series designed by the engineers-inventors, the brothers Cherpanovs.

Part of the exposition is provided by a similar museum of the history of the North Caucasus Railway, which is located in Rostov-on-Don. The deputy Prime Minister Shamil Isayev, the top manager of the North-Caucasian Railways Vladimir Pyastolov and the Mayor of Derbent Malik Bagliev have attended the solemn opening ceremony.

According to the Mayor of Derbent, the museum will be included in one of the city's tourist routes. The artists of the state dance ensemble "Caspian", the vocal group "Victoria" from Derbent musical college, ashug Ramazan and other artists came to congratulate the railwaymen.
