Public council at Daghestan Tourism Committee holds 1st meeting

Makhachkala, March 27, 2014. Today, the Public Council at Daghestan Tourism Committee held their 1st meeting in the conference room of the "Primorskaya" hotel in Makhachkala bringing together Committee’s chairman Magomed Issayev, the chairman of Daghestan Public Chamber Gamzat Gamzatov, managers of travel companies, organizations, spa facilities, recreation centres, hotels, schools, transport companies, and other organizations.

Magomed Issayev opened the meeting by pointing out the main goals to increase the responsibility of the tourism industry organizations. He urged the participants to take the initiative in discussing pressing issues of the agenda, and jointly develop a common strategy for tourism development.

Through a unanimous vote, CEO of "Sulak Hydro Cascade" Nurmagomed Aliyev was elected the chairman of the Public Council at Daghestan Tourism Committee. "Tourism is a really critical industry for Daghestan. Its development can help resolve a number of Daghestan’s top issues. We need to properly use the resources we possess and make tourism a profitable industry,"- he said.

The participants also considered the concept of the draft Federal Law "On tourism and tourist activities in Russia". They noted that the law greatly contributes to forming the legal foundation of today’s tourist market. Also, they suppose that the subject of its regulation is primarily protection of tourists’ rights and legitimate interests – a critical task of tourism.

The participants also stressed that according to the Federal Tourism Agency, adopting this law would help transform the tourism industry into a real economic sector, and provide stability and predictability of tourism legislation.
