Makhachkala, March 28, 2014. Today, problems and prospects for improving the effectiveness of information policy in the NCFD were discussed in Makhachkala. The event brought together NCFD regions’ heads of ministries and analytical departments in charge of information policy, heads of news agencies, TV companies, and print media.

Daghestan Deputy Prime Minister Ramazan Djafarov noted that information policy is a critical aspect of the general state policy. "Implementing an effective information policy requires concerted efforts of the state and public institutions and mass media. Otherwise, we can hardly achieve a sustained vigorous development of our regions, attract investment and implement other strategic objectives,"- he said.

Ramazan Djafarov emphasised that the federal media resources market is strongly competitive. "So we need to produce quality and competitive information products and promote them in federal mass media. State media resources should actively participate in forming Russian spiritual and moral values even through popularizing the centuries-old Caucasian culture,"- he added.

He also raised the issue of journalists’ competence and professional skills. He is convinced that the mass media’s work needs to be improved to become proactive, they should continue their active systematic informational work on the Internet, and update their views on print media, TV, and radio.
Daghestan minister of press and information Aznaur Adjiev stressed that the event’s focal point was to discuss cooperation between NCFD regions’ executive authorities in implementing the information policy, and to sign a cooperation memorandum.

After the plenary presentations, participants in a solemn ceremony signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between NCFD regions’ executive authorities on pursuing a joint information policy.
