Makhachkala, October 7, 2019. The administration of Dagestan State Medical University (DSMU) intends to open a training operating room in 2019, the university rector Suleiman Mammaev is quoted saying. "We plan to open a training operating room by the end of this year. The facility will be equipped in accordance to modern standards – the operating and the preoperative rooms. It is planned that the students, the residents and novice doctors will practice their skills on pigs" - the source added.

According to Mammaev, the cost of equipment for the project makes approx. 400 million rubles. It is assumed that the operating room will be opened in the innovative scientific and educational center at DSMU: "The conditions created are close to real. The Students who choose the surgical direction, the residents who choose surgery, oncology, endoscopy, as well as the doctors taking advanced training courses or retraining are allowed to attend the seminars".

Mammaev pointed out that master classes will be conducted once every two months in the operating room: “There are cameras, screens, so the audience can observe the operation. The most active students may present at the real operations”.
