Petersburg and Samara alpinists challenge mountains of Dagestan

Makhachkala, January 24, 2018. A large group of alpinists from St. Petersburg and Samara is challenging these days the mountains of Dokuzparinsky district, southern Dagestan, the president of the republican mountaineering federation Peter Leonov says.

"25 Petersburg and Samara alpinists have taken over the mountains conquerors from Moscow Power Engineering Institute. The new comers intend to challenge the mounts Shalbuzdag, Bazarduzi and Yarydag. For the time being, Dokuzparinsky district is the most popular destination for the climbers in Dagestan" - Leonov noted.

According to Leonov, the federation plans to attract not only the Russian mountaineers to the mountains of Dagestan, but also the conquerors of peaks from near and far abroad.
"In the meantime, the alpinists from Azerbaijan and Byelorussia intend to visit our republic" – the federation president specified.

The local Ministry of Transport is getting prepared for the summer mountaineering season. For this, the action "Immortal Regiment" is planned in May. Within the framework of the action, a joint ascent of alpinists of Azerbaijan, Dagestan and regions of the country on the Victory Day is scheduled.
