Makhachkala, June 19, 2014. Today, participants of the round table "Case studies of implementing the national information policy on Internet and in social media" held yesterday in the House of Friendship, gave a press conference at RIA "Daghestan" to say about the meeting’s results and their organizations’ activities. Director of RIA "Daghestan" Magomed Magomedov was the moderator to the conference.

Representative of the "Safe Internet League" NGO Vassily Leonidov said that he was pleased to visit Daghestan and see that local authorities and the public do understand that something must be done on the Internet. "Yesterday, we signed an agreement on cooperation in safe internet with Daghestan ministry of press and information. We are hopeful this cooperation will last. We will do our best to help Daghestani parents protect their children fr om the negative content on the Internet,"- Leonidov said.

Director of RIA "Daghestan" Magomed Magomedov reminded that leading social networks are multinationals, and neither Russian society nor government can influence them. "We see that the networks are being used not only to lobby events or people, but also to deploy revolutions. There are sites that can be used as weapons against any state," he said, and asked the human right activist weather their tools will allow the government and society to have a timely control of the situation, to try and resist sometimes the harmful influence on the public opinion.

Representative of the «IQBuzz» ZAO’s PR-department Ksenia Miroslavskaya replied that social networks are like a powder keg – you never know wh ere and when it is going to explode. "There are lots of social networkers and bloggers today, and their number is constantly growing. Our system allows you not only to find sites with an active discussion of a particular topic, but also to get notifications about the information bursts."

CEO of "Trend-media" Artem Shurgalsky said that the "Safe Internet League" is doing a very good mission because information attacks on the mind and the psyche on the Internet are still there. He also noted that information about Daghestan is mainly negative.

"I would like to watch the information about Daghestan and its people change its tone. I want to try and have social networks and blogs write about the good," he concluded.
In the end, the participants answered journalists’ questions.
