Nuclear Medicine Center to be established in Dagestan

St.-Petersburg, June 6, 2019. At the 2019 International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg the Head of Dagestan Vladimir Vasilyev and the top manager of the Pharmstandard OJSC Viktor Kharitonin have considered the possible collaborative activities and cooperation on the establishment of a Center for Nuclear Medicine in Dagestan. The new facility is expected to make diagnostics using the positron emission method (PEM) and computed tomography (CT). As to the region governor, the creation of the center in the republic will make this type of medical care more available.

It was noted that a two-storey building which allows to provide the necessary radiation protection during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radio-surgical interventions was erected in the region on the territory of the Republican Clinical Hospital.

During the negotiations, the parties spoke about the creation of the Center for Drug Antineoplastic Therapy in the republic too. For the present time there is no such center in Dagestan, there are only chemotherapy departments in five public medical institutions.

Regarding the training of specialists for carrying out complex high-tech operations, the representatives of Pharmstandard OJSC announced that initially highly qualified specialists from the other regions of Russia could have lived and work in the republic training the local physicians.

Vladimir Vasilyev pointed out that the specialists from Dagestan who are ready to return to the republic and work at such a high level would be involved in the work too. Noteworthy, the center may accept patients from the region, as well as from the other republics of the North Caucasian Federal District.
