North Caucasus Federal District Media Association meets in Pyatigorsk

Pyatigorsk, January 28, 2015. Chaired by their leader, director of the VGRK TV and Radio Company’s Stavropol branch Ilya Kanavin, the NCFD Media Association met in the main building of Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University, the Center of Modern Caucasian Politics "Kavkaz" told RIA Dagestan.

The meeting discussed the previous year’s results and plans for 2015, among them ideas of regional media, programs dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory and the 2,000th anniversary of Derbent, and enhancing work with young journalists.

Speaking about the plans for 2015, the association members proposed they meet regularly - about 3 times a year - with Russian Presidential Envoy in the North Caucasus Federal District Sergey Melikov. The meetings are essential for highlighting the most pressing issues of the district development and for coming up with a single information agenda. Participants also moved to organize press conferences with heads of NCFD regions and members of the Media Association.
Director of the Center of Modern Caucasian Politics "Kavkaz" Igor Sopov stressed that the North Caucasus needs their own rankings in different areas of life, as well as media maps to federal and regional journalists’ contests. Papers like those could greatly help the NCFD media community in their daily work.

Director of the Institute of International Relations of Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University Viktor Panin initiated signing a cooperation agreement between the Media Association and Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University allowing their students to practice in regional media.
