New Orthodox church built in Dagestan

Makhachkala, May 10, 2016. A new Orthodox church in honor of Prince Vladimir opened yesterday on the territory of governmental complex in Dagestani capital - Makhachkala. The Head of the republic Ramazan Abdulatipov, the Bishop of Makhachkala and Grozny Varlaam, as well as the other government leaders and deputies of the local parliament attended the grand opening ceremony.

"Today, we are restoring the truth. More than 70 years ago right here on this place there was a cathedral named after the great Alexander Nevsky. The cathedral was demolished then. Nowadays we are opening doors of the new church and praying for our sin" - Abdulatipov said, adding that the event occurred to be a real holiday for the people of different confessions.

"Pray God grant enthusiasm to all - the Orthodox, Muslims and Jews, to understand the most important thing: our native land is Russia and we have to build, strengthen and, most importantly, live in peace and harmony" - Bishop Barlaam said.
