Makhachkala, November 20, 2017. Dagestan authorities have an intention to support the local entrepreneurs engaged in the sphere of national crafts, the press service of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic reports.

The craftsmen will be assisted in joining the tourism sector, for which it is planned to build ethno-cultural centers in the villages of Balkhar and Sulevkent, as well as to force the introduction of new tourist routes to the places of traditional folk crafts.

Dagestan holds the leading position among the subjects of the Russian Federation in the production of handicrafts, - the Minister of Tourism and Folk Art of Dagestan Rabiyat Zakavova said earlier.
The traditional folk art crafts in the republic are: the silverware with black and deep engraving, the handmade carpets, the woodwork with ornamental notching of metal, the ceramics and the burki. To date, more than 20 Dagestani enterprises are engaged in the production of such products.
