Mountain tea festival to be held in Sulak canyon of Dagestan in August

Makhachkala, April 27, 2017. The second festival of mountain tea will be held in the Sulak canyon of the Republic of Dagestan in August, the republican Ministry for tourism and folk art crafts reports. It is expected that the festival will be held on the observation deck of the canyon or on the central square of the village of Dubki.

Sulak canyon is one of the most popular natural sites of Dagestan. Its length is 53 kilometers. The deepest river in Dagestan - Sulak flows in the canyon.

"I propose to organize grounds with souvenir products of masters of folk art crafts of the republic on the festival, as well as several master classes on its production. The program of the festival will include master classes on the production of national Dagestani dishes, an exhibition of tea from classic black to various types of herbs, the theatrical performances and the performances of national groups of amateur performances" the minister Rabiyat Zakavova is quoted saying.

The first mountain tea festival was held in August 2016 in the historical-memorial complex "Vatan" located in Gunibsky district of the republic. More than 500 people from different regions of Russia and tourists from abroad arrived in Dagestan to participate in the event. The festival is aimed at promoting gastronomic features of Dagestan, national cuisine, and, in particular, the mountain teas.
