Moscow, May 18, 2015. Yesterday, Moscow’s Muslim youth met with prominent domestic and foreign theologians. The event was attended by a delegation of scientists fr om Arab countries headed by General Secretary of the World Union of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Ali Muhiddin al-Karadagi. Mufti of Dagestan Sheikh Akhmad Haji-Abdulaev was here, too.

The meeting was held at Dagestan Permanent Mission at the Russian President. There were so many young people wishing to take part in the meeting that many had to be standing the whole time.

Permanent missioner Izumrud Mugutdinova opened the forum and then chairman of Dagestan Committee on Freedom of Conscience and Cooperation with Religious Organizations Magomed Suleymanov read out Dagestan Head Ramazan Abdulatipov’s greetings to the participants of the meeting.

During the conversation, the young people asked Dr. Ali Mukhiddin al-Karadagi questions on various aspects of public and social life. Participants covered topics such as "Sharia justification for love of motherland", "Muslims’ civic duties in a secular state", and "Islam’s attitude to different social systems: democracy, socialism, and others." They also spoke about the crisis in the Arab world and the situations in Syria, Egypt, and Iraq.

It’s a common knowledge that many young men from Russia are involved there. Dr. al-Karadagi gave recommendations for working with young people to help educate healthy individuals that objectively perceive the surrounding reality with immunity to pseudo-religious movements. Here, the clergy and government agencies play an important role, especially in the online space wh ere most oftenly the youth get zombified.

At the end of the meeting, Dagestan Mufti Sheikh Akhmad-Hajji Abdullyev thanked the leadership of Dagestan Permanent Mission for providing a platform for the meeting and said he was hopeful that the mission will make events like those a good tradition of theirs.
