Makhachkala, August 4, 2019. The “Memory of Time” social project aimed at preserving the unique cultural heritage of the Republic of Dagestan for the future generation planned to be launched in the region. The project will make cultural and historical objects accessible to the researchers, students and the general public in the future. This will be possible thanks to modern photogrammetry and 3D scanning technologies.

“The photogrammetry is a technology with which you can create high-quality 3D models. They can be used by the restorers - to understand how the object looked before. Besides, the scientists will be able to explore any object that is physically difficult to reach” – the project manager Abdulbasyr Gurbanov said.

According to Gurbanov, the number of cultural monuments of the republic in need of various works is increasing every year, due to their dilapidation. For this, it was decided to launch the project aimed at preserving the cultural heritage sites.
It is worth noting that the “Memory of Time” involves the creation of 50 high-quality 3D copies of cultural heritage objects located in the territory of Dagestan (fortresses, defensive towers, monuments of applied art, etc.).
