Makhachkala to take part in "Arctic - 2015" and " Parade of flags of Russia” national projects

Makhachkala, March 31, 2015. Makhachkala will take part in the national projects: “Arctic – 2015” and the “Parade of flags of Russia”, the press service of Makhachkala Mayor’s Office informs.

According to the spokesperson, the All-Russia Media Forum on preparatory work to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory has taken place in the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation in early March. The meeting was attended by the delegates from the most regions of the Russian Federation.  Ruslan Umalatov, the deputy mayor of Makhachkala city administration represented Dagestan in the Forum participants of which pursued the goal to organize a joint information campaign on the “Arctic – 2015” and the “Parade of flags of Russia” projects.  The Forum delegates discussed the scenario plan of activities and exchanged news, reports and movies.

Opening the Media Forum, Nikolai Drozdov, the member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the head of the international environmental movement "Living Planet" noted that the main idea of the project was the consolidation of public efforts to civic education, patriotism and the love for country.

A solemn ceremony of transferring Russian region’s flags (each one 250 m2) to the organizing committee took place within the Forum. The flags will be delivered to one of Russia’s polar stations in Arctic. The first polar expedition Living Planet will take place in April 2015 within the Arctic-2015 project.  The representatives of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the movement "Living Planet", the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, as well as the representatives of 85 regions of Russia will participate in the project. Besides, in honor of the Great Victory, the eternal flame, lit from the eternal flame at Poklonnaya Hill, will be delivered to the archipelago too.

Besides, the first International Arctic Forum "Living Planet" will be held in the town of Longyearbyen, located on Svalbard on April 4. The participants of the event will review successful strategies and programs of states, regions, non-governmental organizations to ensure environmental safety and discuss the issues related to the global warming on Earth.
