Makhachkala, March 31, 2015. The editorial and publishing complex in Makhachkala responded to the call of the Dagestan public organization of the disabled named "Living without tears" to join the Light It Up Blue campaign dedicated to the World Autism Day marked on April 2.

Head of "Living without tears" Aishat Gamzaeva said that to attract public attention to the problems of children with autism, in the publishing house students and volunteers will arrange a concert and a dance flash mob, and they will release about 500 blue balls in the sky. In the evening, the whole building will be highlighted in blue in support of people with autism.

This is the first time Dagestan will take part in the Light It Up Blue campaign which aims at attracting attention of the public, professionals and authorities to the problems, rights and opportunities of people with mental disabilities (autism spectrum disorder).

The first World Autism Day took place April 2, 2007, after the UN General Assembly adopted an appropriate resolution. Later, to commemorate the date, a campaign called Light It Up Blue was launched by the largest American human rights association ‘Autism Speaks’ that deals with autism problems in the US and around the world. On this day, about 3,000 buildings and monuments in more than 600 cities of 45 countries will be highlighted in blue as a sign of supporting the campaign on raising public awareness of autism and associated problems.
