Makhachkala hosts all-Russian conference "ISIS. Information and psychological counteraction to terrorism in Northern Caucasus"

Makhachkala, November 12, 2015. Today, 12 November, the All-Russian conference devoted to the issues of information and psychological counteraction to the international terrorist organization ISIS has started its two-day work in Makhachkala.

The official event brought together the representatives of Dagestan ministries and agencies in the conference hall of Dagestan State University, the experts, journalists, political scientist, etc. The leading experts of the Institute of Federalism, the Center for Strategic Studies, the Institute of Economics and Legislation, the Analytical Center of the State Duma, the Safe Internet League, the Caucasian geopolitical club delivered reports, that will later be included into a collection.

As it is informed, the conference participants will share practical skills in the sphere of information and psychological counteraction against the ideology of terrorism and extremism.

Besides, a series of panel discussions, round tables, master classes and workshops will be held within the two-day conference. In total more than 600  political scientists, psychologists, sociologists, the representatives of security services, experts of institutions, agencies and organizations, editors, journalists, teachers and others will participate in the event.  

The conference attendees will discuss the analytical report of the Caucasian geopolitical club "Islamic state: the nature and the opposition"; responsibility of the mass media and journalists in counteracting the ideology of extremism and terrorism; the strategy, the essential differences and the psychology of terrorist organizations by the example of al-Qaida and ISIS; the methods and informational pressure of the terrorist organizations on the government and society; the countering terrorism and extremism on the Internet.

Appropriate recommendations to the executive authorities, implementing the information policy, press services and the mass media will be worked out by results of the conference. The large-scale event is initiated by Dagestan ministry of press and information with support of the Center for Strategic Studies, Dagestan State University and the Safe Internet League; the communication partner of the conference - Atlas Media.
