Makhachkala, November 30, 2016. Dagestan biologist Timur Gabibov grows subtropical frost-resistant fruits in his garden. Besides, Gabibov is seriously engaged in plant breeding. Recently, the biologist managed to cultivate a new variety of kiwi more adapted to the climate of the southern Dagestan.

Timur Gabibov made an experimental platform from his farmland. Many unusual subtropical plants for Dagestan such as strawberry tree, Japanese quince tree, Canadian seaberry, Vietnamese bamboo and fan palms had been planted in the garden.

- It is true that subtropical fruits are considered to be the most eco-friendly culture. Because they are never treated with chemicals.

Timur is a professional breeder and has already developed a new variety of kiwi fruit: its fruits are not oval, but in the form of a cone.

- They will be adapted, because parental couple has grown in the Southern Dagestan, in our climatic conditions, this kiwi tree will be more resistant to weathering than the parental couple.

The liana of the new kiwi easily resists the temperatures down to -25 degrees without any shelter. The persimmon tree can resist harsh frost.
- I pick up plants brought from Iran, Azerbaijan and Krasnodar region. I study them and prepare for the distribution.

There is more than a hundred species of exotic plants in Dagestani biologist’s collection including spruces such as Canadian, Kremlin, blue. Several medical centers of Dagestan have already asked the scientist to gentrify their territories.
