Jeeping competitions held in Dagestan

Makhachkala, October 17, 2016. The fifth stage of the Cup for the North Caucasian Federal District "Trophy sprint" was held October 15 on Talgi-Buynaksk motorway, Makhachkala municipal Committee on Sport, Tourism and Youth Affairs reports.

The “Trophy sprint” is a kind of jeeping (passing tourist route in off-road vehicles). Off-road amateur teams from Stavropol, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia, Chechnya and Dagestan came to taste extreme, to test their capabilities and to test the reliability of their off-road vehicles.

At the official opening ceremony of the competition, the chairman of the Committee on Sport, Tourism and Youth Affairs Marat Ibragimov noted that such events had a positive impact on the development of friendly relations among the neighboring regions.

"Holding such events contributes to the promotion of sports and extreme kinds of tourism in our region, and attracts a large number of young people. We have a lot of plans for the future agreed with the other organizers. In 2017 it is planned to hold a series of such kind of events", - Ibragimov said.

The competition was attended by 32 teams which competed in 5 nominations. The first place was awarded to the crew from the Chechen Republic in the categories "Extreme", "Sport". Kabardino-Balkarian off-road amateurs took the first places in the categories of "Tourism", "Niva-Open" and "Standard". Dagestan crew succeeded in the category "Tourism" taking the second place.
