Makhachkala, March 16, 2015. Italian «Mediterranean Development» is ready to invest 60 million euros to build a waste recycling plant in Dagestan, the press service of the republican ministry of natural resources reported RIA Dagestan. Dagestan minister of natural resources Nabiyula Karachaev announced the figures at a meeting with the Italian delegation headed by President Salvatore Salute and architects Domenico Strafase and Angelo Luigi Tartaglie.

Mediterranean Development specializes in construction including implementation of major investment projects such as building and servicing modern waste disposal plants.

At the meeting, participants discussed environmentally sound recycling of solid waste. Domenico Strafase noted that the company can build a full-cycle recycling plant with all necessary infrastructure in Dagestan to service 100,000 people.

Nabiyula Karachaev in turn told the guests about how solid waste is disposed and recycled in the republic. He noted that the Italian project seems very inviting for Dagestan in terms of the budget and environmental protection. He added that they will consider realizing project in Kaspiysk rather than Makhachkala since Kaspiysk’s population is less than 100,000 people, so the plant’s performance will be more illustrative there showing a good example for other Dagestani cities.
