International interreligious youth forum to be held in Daghestan

Makhachkala, July 30, 2014. The 1st International interreligious youth forum is scheduled to run August 3-12 in Daghestan, at Makhachkala recreation center "Kizlyar Lagoon", a source in Daghestan ministry of youth affairs told RIA "Dagestan".

The forum was organized by Daghestan government, Makhachkala Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, Daghestan Spiritual Board of Muslims, and the Interregional youth laboratory for Caucasus development with the support of religious and youth organizations from the North Caucasus Federal District and South Ossetia.

The event is meant to attract youth aged 16-30 from Daghestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, North Ossetia, Stavropol region, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, South Ossetia, and Azerbaijan. It aims at forming and strengthening spiritual and moral values ​​among the younger generation and breeding correct and friendly perception of ethnic and cultural diversity of the region.

The forum features activities aimed at personal development and physical wellness of participants, meetings with outstanding religious, political, sports and public figures, sports events, workshops, and simulation and role-playing games.

They are going to invite statesmen and public figures, ruling bishops of the North Caucasus dioceses, and North Caucasus muftis to the opening of the forum scheduled for August 4.
