Makhachkala, October 11, 2017. The birds rescued during forest fires in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District have been transported to Dagestanskiy Reserve fr om the Russian Falcon Center to begin life on their own.

As to the press service of Makhachkala airport, the birds arrived yesterday accompanied by the employees of the All-Russian scientific research institute for environment protection “Ecology”. Four peregrine falcons were saved during the fire. The birds were placed in the Russian falconry center to prepare them for the life in freedom. Within a month the predators learned to fly and hunt.

As the process of adapting the birds was delayed, it was decided to wait until they were returned to Yamal. At this time of year the number of waterfowl that make up the main diet of Peregrine Falcons significantly reduces. On October 11 the birds will be settled in the reserve, wh ere they live in the winter period. In spring their return to Yamal is planned.

Peregrine falcon, listed in the Red Book of Russia, lives almost everywhere except Antarctica. The bird of prey is capable of speeding over 322 km / h, it is the fastest bird and living creature in the world.
